Tracker

Earlier this year I worked on 'Tracker', a play about my great grandfather Alex Riley. I feel so lucky and blessed to have been able to work on this production, especially as it was my cousin Daniel Riley's play.

This show is important to me as it was about my great grandfather and his stories - he lived his life as a Blak tracker for the police force.

I flew to Melbourne to work with Jonathan Jones on the design, where I painted the large-scale scenic set. My mum and Aunties Kath and Shirley were cultural advisors for the show, which made it even more special.

The backdrop depicts Wambuul (Macquarie River). This design was inspired by gumtrees and the Tubba-Gah mission in Dubbo.

Following seeing Tracker live, a panel talk was hosted by Wiradjuri woman Emily McDaniel in conversation with those who worked on the play - including my mum. This discussion can be listened to here.
