Painted on Bidjigal Country

Medium: Aerosol and house paint

I worked with a group of girls at Beverly Hills High School to workshop and design this mural.

The concept for this artwork is to show Connection through waterways and to honour the diverse variety of native plants and flowers that call the riverbanks and surrounding forest home. To celebrate Aboriginal culture, I’ve selected some distinct local plants and flowers that have many uses as well as play a vital role in the biodiversity of the local forests. The layers in my work represent the plants, their connection with Aboriginal culture and the interconnectedness of the waterways.

The handprints and symbol in the middle was the students’ idea to represent females. This mural is painted to inspire and educate us about the beauty of the native flora, it can be used as an educational tool for families, teachers, educators, or general public.
