Biala Girls Hostel 2020

GIVIT the not-for-profit charity donated to and coordinated the makeover Biala Girls Hostel. GIVIT commissioned Merindah to bring to life the ideas and experiences of the Biala residents as they moved to Sydney to attend High School. Their journey “from bush to beach” was the focus. Merindah interpreted their ideas and stories into two murals.

Merindah spent time consulting with Aunty Carol gaining permission to paint in Ku-ring-gai.

The Biala Girls Hostel in Allambie Heights is a not-for-profit home for Aboriginal girls who have come to Sydney to attend high school education at NBSC Mackellar Girls Campus.
